When did you first discover and fall in love with Hip Hop?
For me, it was watching "Boyz N The Hood" when I was about 13 (1993). I loved the film and the song "How To Survive In South Central" which played when the credits rolled. A week later I bought Cube's "The Predator" on cassette and loved it. I started buying UK rap mag "Hip Hop Connection" (I have every issue from 1993 to last one a couple of months ago). I saved up enough paper round money every month to go buy all the albums now considered classics and a life long obsession began.
About 4-5 years ago, I was entering Middle School and I was a rock fan. Although, I did like some rap, but back then was mainstream. When I entered Middle School, I became popular fast except my taste in music wasn't the greatest. A friend of mine, one of my most gangster friends showed me Tupac Shakur, and how he was obsessed with the 7 theory of him still being alive. I heard the song Changes by Tupac, and suddenly my whole world turned upside down and I loved Hip-Hop. Tupac lead me to listen to more older stuff, Notorious B.I.G, NAS, and many other artists. Then about a year later on VH1, they had Boyz in the Hood on and it was my second time fully seeing this movie, and this movie was influential to me loving Hip-Hop, since then it lead me to liking what I Do now.
