Should I be upset or am I way over reacting?

So my bf really does love me and i know it, we've been together for over a year now. but the other night he was talkin about how he had a chance with the most amazing girl when he was inhigh schooll and how she was as beautiful as a princess and was the nicest girl ever how innocent and perfect she was... and he kept going on and on about her, how dumb he was for missing out on her. then he went on to say that his life would be so much better if he were with her and he wouldn't be where he is in life now, then i think he realized what he said because then he told me that he loves me and is happy with me... am i over reacting or do i have a right to be hurt???
I know he is happy with me though, I just don't understand why he would say it
And if i said something like that he would freak out and be so pissed, I'm not angry though just really really hurt that I feel like if he could have her now he would probably want her more than me

I don't know your bf, but I can tell you, it's a technique that some guys use called, "Put her on ice."

What that involves is, the guy (your bf in this case) will tell his current girl about the past girls he's had or had a chance with.

This lets the girl know that the bar has been set and she is going to have to compete for him or always be on alert.

This throws the girl off balance. He keeps her on ice, so to speak.

You know, what are you doing with a guy like that?

What's the point of being in a relationship if you're not relating?!

I've never seen people in love do that to one another. Are you sure he loves you?

If he keeps this up, you may have to drop kick him through the uprights.
