Why is it a common thought for some people to want to die young?
It IS normal, in the sense that it's a common thought, wishful thinking of wanting to die young.
Is it really because many people are afraid of getting old, getting ill, unable to wipe their own *rse etc?
As a young person, I relate to this. I would rather die young, I am terrified of getting old and not being able to look after myself.
I think it's common with a lot of young people because a lot of us have lost respect for the elderly, and think that it's just not graceful to grow old, and that we think it's disgusting more than anything.
Personally, I like being able to do things for myself, I like privacy and I don't like other people getting in the way of my life.
I also wouldn't to feel old and unappreciated, I wouldn't want to feel like there was no future for me, and that there is no point trying to achieve any big goals, which is what I think I would feel if I was old.
I like to go to gigs, drink, party and have fun, but I feel like that is something I wouldn't be able to maintain in life growing older, eventually, even if I continued doing the things I enjoy later in life, I would get to a point where I physically wouldn't be able to any more, and that sucks!
So yes, that's what I think, and a lot of my friends too.
