Hair extension colour problem?

I have short hair right now and am waiting for it to grow to be about 5 inches and then I want to get clip-in extensions. The problem is, I used to dye my hair blonde, then I wanted to grow my natural colour out so I coloured it a cool light brown. My natural hair is a golden (very) dark blonde. I was thinking I would cut the brown off eventually but I decided that I wanted to grow it out instead of cutting it again.

I want to get hair extensions with my natural colour but by the time my hair grows out it will be half cool, faded light brown (about 2 1/2 inches on the end will be this colour) and half golden dark blonde on my roots. I don't want to dye my hair anymore if I can avoid it, will the extensions look silly with this colour difference? I'm thinking it will go from dark blonde tolight brown, then back again to the dark blonde on my roots and it might look ridiculous, especially because the highlights will be different.
