What red light violation is likely to cost less?
I just received a ticket for rolling through a red light while making a right turn. I did it and the photo shows it, but haven't received the fine amount yet. Does it matter that I was a turning against a red light where there was no traffic in the intersection at the time (the video shows 7 seconds between my turn and a vehicle crossing the same spot) or is the fine "fixed" based on simply violating the code? In other words, is someone looking at these for level of infraction or is it simply check the box and collect the fine?
The judge won't care whether there was any other traffic around. You go through a red light, you're guilty. Some cops may overlook it if your timing was just a bit off and you weren't blatant about it, but to a camera (and the company which processes the photos), it's a cut and dry situation.
