Cassette to online converting?
i have some cassettes that contain some rather RARE Songs From "back in the day"........lol
anyways i only have them as cassettes and cannot find them on dvds or cds.........i found some software instore (Staples) that says it converts cassettes into dvd format and lets me burn them onto it........i want to know what hardware im gonna need for this conversion...and if there are any good and cheap things you can suggest to help me burn my cassettes onto my pc so i can upload them???

i have done this before.
you will need:
a good cassette deck player with "line out" (usually this has RCA)
a soundcard with "line in" (be it 3.5 baby PL plug or RCA)
a software which has recording capability (i use adobe cool edit pro)
RCA to RCA or RCA to 3.5 baby PL cables
what to do:
hook up the cassette deck to your PC - cassette deck line out to PC soundcard line in via RCA to RCA or RCA to 3.5 baby PL cables.
play the cassette to check PC connection and adjust levels.
record all tracks and cut/edit and label After All ripping has finished.
tips:
never record over -18db as nominal and 0db as peak.
record as flat as you can. no or very minimal enhancement what so ever. to retain the material's orig form. enhancement can be done during playbacks.
what NOT to do:
never get mixed up with line and mic signals as they are a lot different than You Think. a headphone jack is another thing.
never rip (rare) songs just to be shared with others.(piracy)
