How did you discover new music growing up?
Nowadays, you go on the internet to discover music and it's as simple as that. Back in the day, you either had the radio or a record store. I'd like to know how you got into a certain genre of music when you were growing up?
I grew up in the late 90's/early 00's (I know, not old enough) and discovered music by going to a local CD store called "The Beat Goes On...". My brother and I would go there and check out the wall of newly released rock CDs...and of course, buy them. That store introduced me to the obvious classic bands like AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rush, etc.
Another question, what was the first CD/album/cassette you remember buying? Mine's was either Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction" or Iron Maiden "Brave New World". 
I was born the youngest of 5 children, my oldest brother a hippie, so I learned a lot of new music from them.
When I was a bit older, I was introduced to Brazilian music - my boyfriend took me to his friend's party where they brought about 20 Brazilians over for Carnaval and I'd never had so much fun. To date, Brazilian music (Bossa Nova, Samba, Frevo, Forro, Pagode - all my favorite type of music).
Then my friends took me salsa dancing and got really into that and then started researching on my own different types of world music that I like.
I also love Jazz - my other brother was a D.J. for a Jazz show called "Morning Cup of Jazz" and another called "Music of the World's People", so I got really into all types of jazz and heard new world music there. (really ethnic stuff).
