How do I get my cat to stop flushing the toilet?
He flushes the toilet all the time...he is facinated by it, but it is annoying. We dont like to close the bathroom door because it gets really mildewy and humid in the bathroom...especially after people get done taking a shower or something. Does anyone have ideas? I have tried putting tape, toothpaste (cause the cat does not like mint smell) and event that expensive cat repellent from the pet store on the handle that flushes the toilet. I AM GOING INSANE...WE NEED A SOLUTION!!!
I think people are missing the fact that if we close the door it gets really musty and mildewy in the bathroom...Good Ideas would help...saying close the door doesnt work...
some good ideas people thanks...however...all of you who said use a water bottle, turns out that the cat likes the water and likes to get wet...idiot that he is...unfortunately water bottles dont work....
open the back toilet tank and take the chain off of the little arm thing that pulls the stopper in the bottom. leave it like that for a week or so and when he realizes that he can't flush it then he may give up and go find something else to do. as for the humans in the house, you can either take the lid off and pull the chain manually each time to flush or use a bucket of water to flush..I know it is a hassle but it is the only thing I could think of that doesn't require you to close the door all of the time.
I have 11 rescue cats that are fascinated with water so I do keep the bathroom door shut. if it gets a little musty then I open the window a bit.
