Whats the use of the lithium battery in the CCD-TR400 Sony Camcorder?
The battery ran out and the cam´s cassette compartment is not closing in when i put a cassette in.
Typically, the lithium "button" battery allows the camcorder to keep track of the date, time, any manual settings you may have set... If you took it out or if it is totally dead, it can't do any of this.
Whether it is related to you problem is unknown, but generally, the camcorder manufacturers put access to that battery under the rechargeable battery, so if you do not have a charged battery attached to the camcorder (or if the camcorder is not plugged in), then the tape drive has no power to run the little motors to set the tape up to be ready for recording... And if you have been forcing it closed, only to have it pop back open, it is possible that the drive mechanism is now broken...
